ABOUT

Five Mile Radius is a cross-disciplinary design consultancy and manufacturing studio dedicated to shaping a circular future for the built environment. We specialise in architecture, material consultancy, and fabrication, working with natural and recycled construction materials to deliver projects that respect the lifecycle of resources.

Founded in 2016, our name draws inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi's vision of building with materials sourced within five miles of home. This philosophy underpins our belief in architecture that embodies its local landscape, people, and traditions.

We champion the use of low-carbon, bio-based materials such as timber, earth, and stone, as well as construction waste and salvaged materials. Our expertise lies in decarbonising construction, enhancing material efficiency, and innovating within local supply chains.

Central to our practice is the principle of making as a means of exploration. Our Yeronga workshop integrates design and fabrication, enabling us to test and prototype architectural ideas. The products in our collection often stem from architectural commissions, showcasing valuable waste streams reimagined for continued reuse.

Our mission is to pioneer sustainable construction culture, fostering collaborations that elevate local resources, skills, and stories. From public and private architecture to custom furniture and educational initiatives, we help create places and products that honour their origins while contributing to a resilient, circular future.
